Bingo! I found it. Saint Sebastian Parish was established on September 30, 1930 by His Excellency The Most Reverend John J. Nilan, D.D., Bishop of Hartford at the request and growing need for a Catholic Church for the Italian immigrant population of Middletown, Connecticut. The church was built by the people themselves basing it on the Basilica Church and Mother Church of Saint Sebastian in Melilli (Sicily, Italy) where most of the people had come from.

Tough sign to read, I know. In a nutshell, Italian immigrants began coming to Middletown in the late 1800′s and their numbers grew to a pretty healthy size within 30 years or so. They raised money (not via Bingo) and had this church built for them. In reality, it’s a somewhat underwhelming church.
