Even before I ever tasted an Overshores beer, I liked them. I liked president Christian Amport’s approach to opening his brewery. Intelligently, slowly, and properly. Now, the site he found isn’t exactly the greatest spot ever – in fact, it’s a huge pain in the butt to get to, even though it’s a stone’s throw from I-95.

But Christian, who has lived in Vermont and the Pacific Northwest, had a vision and he knew how to execute it.

That vision was to open a “Belgian brewery.” In East Haven, CT.

“Overshores Brewing Company is dedicated to the Belgian style of making beers. To be “Belgian” means to never compromise on taste, richness, strength of alcohol, and enjoy total freedom in choosing ingredients. If it makes the beer better and more interesting, put it in.”

Thus far, Overshores’ beer resume doesn’t really have anything wacky on it, but I’m happy for that. No need to go cracky at the get-go. (Hint-hint other new breweries.)

They have been rolling out beers one by one, every couple of months. Overshores uses classic Saison thick-glass stubby bottles in its 4-packs and the beer inside those bottles has thus far been legit and true-to-style.

I really like this approach and look forward to good things from Overshores.
